I Love {Mary Pratt}

Image
I’m back today with another of my favorite local artists – Mary Pratt of Pink Chair Studio .  Mary is mother to my dear friend Anna, grandma to two of the most darling little girls you could ever hope to know AND a stunning artist.  I’ve had the great pleasure of getting to know her over the last few years and always look forward to seeing her at Anna’s parties, gatherings and events.  This is the piece that started an instant and all-encompassing love affair with Mary… …can you even believe the gorgeousness?  I literally swooned right there in Anna’s kitchen.  This portrait of a family friend’s daughter is equally as marvelous.  I’ve seen this child in person and I can honestly say that this perfectly captures her!  I sure would love to have one of the boys (I’m putting that out there on the off chance Honey is reading.) It should come as no surprise that I’m drawn to her coastal pieces.  Here are a few of my favorites… Soooo…after admiring Mary’...

I Love {The Cloche}

Image
One of my favorite decorative accessories is the cloche.  There is just something about those gently curved glass domes that make whatever is tucked underneath immensely more fabulous than it might otherwise seem. My most prized cloche in the collection is in the den .  I have one bronzed baby shoe from each little nestled inside with a picture of them taken at Wormsloe Plantation in Savannah. The powder room vanity holds another favorite.  Inside this tall cloche I have a glass egg and birds nest resting on a bed of moss.  Curly willow twines around the height of the piece. These mini glass pedestals with cloche tops had me at hello.  I use them to house all sorts of little lovelies on various occasions.  I had a set of six and cried real tears when an unfortunate mishap left me short one top.      And seasonally you’ll find a cloche here or there.  Right now I have a tiny cloche over a black glittered pumpkin on my kitchen table. ...

I Love {Angie Reuter}

Image
It’s been a while since my last “I Love” edition and this one is beyond overdue.  I had the great fortune of meeting Angie just about two years ago and really getting to know this beautiful gal last summer.  First and foremost, she’s mommy to three beautiful boys, wife to a talented man, friend to many and, somewhere in between all of that, she’s an inspired and accomplished artist. Her decor, furnishings and children’s pieces are spectacular… …but it’s her coastal fish and landscapes that have me swooning. I was over the moon when Honey commissioned an oyster painting for my Christmas gift (hence the long overdueness of this post).  Angie finished up a good while back but I’ve yet to hang it up.  I’m holding out to see if it will fit over the fireplace on the new porch .  If not there, it will likely find it’s forever home in the guest room en suite. And speaking of the porch, I’d be pleased as punch to squeeze in an Angie Reuter fish as well. So, y’all go ...

I Love {Alison Evans Coastal Ceramics}

Image
Artist  Alison Evans  creates the most swoon-worthy, sea inspired ceramics.  Each unique piece is hand molded, hand glazed and totally gorgeous. After falling in love with bestie R 's Alison Evans oyster plates, I started a collection of my own abalone and tortoise plates Christmas before last.  Since then, Honey has been a doll and slowly added to it for various occasions (Valentine's Days, birthdays, Christmases), and then I rounded it out with a few more choice pieces on my recent jaunt down to New Orleans .  I finally pulled them all out of the bowels of the closet and set to work incorporating them into my den decor. Now, I'm dying to get my hands on a few in bone white. I do have a birthday coming up, after all!! xoxo See the rest of my oyster inspired posts here and here .
