Nature’s Garden Delivered

Image
Try as I might, I have finally come to terms with the fact that I can only manage to shop at one store each week.  And that has to be Publix.  So, after looking around for another solution for organic, local fruits and veggies, I have signed up at Nature’s Garden Delivered . They deliver natural and organically grown seasonal fruits and veggies (and other great meats, cheeses, milks and spices) right to your doorstep!  There are a few different ways to customize your box – fruits only, veggies only, mix of both in large, medium and small sizes.  I went with the medium box and have it delivered every other week for $45.  Our first box had celery, onions, rocky rose potatoes (divine), pink lady apples, red grapefruit, anjou pears, red peppers, green squash, honey tangerines, bananas, tomatoes, red russian kale, green leave lettuce and green onions!  Everything was fresh and delish!  We used every.single.thing. in the box by the time the next one came and...

Savannah: Shopping

Image
When the baby sweetly asked his Ampa “Can I stay home with you and be very good today?”, Mother and I did a little jig as we knew there was no way he’d get turned down :-)  We literally ran out the door before anyone could change their minds. We started at Sweet Tea in Sandfly.  This is one of my fave fave fave shoppes outside of the historic district. I picked up two cute shamrocks at Miracle Greenhouse. And then we headed to Clutter off of Eisenhower.  It’s relatively new and chocked full of fab finds.  I left with a gorg piece of real coral for $18 (Sister got THREE before she left town) and a found turtle shell. Right in the same shopping center is another newish addition – Maison de Macarons .  The chocolate ganache was too too fabulous!  I regret not getting a few for later!     After stopping in the Lilly store (where I procured a gorge green lace dress with birthday money), JoAnn’s (I settled on seersucker to skirt the desk in the c...

Handed Down

Image
Y’all cannot imagine how absolutely thrilled I was when Honey’s mama (affectionately known as JuJu) handed down this vintage patchwork Lilly Pulitzer apron handmade by her late mother many moons ago.  It is in pristine condition and the love and care that went into making it is evident.    I truly couldn’t love it more and it makes me want to do a little happy dance every time I tie it on.  I had the great fortune of knowing Honey’s grandma for a few years and adore having something so fun and so ME to remember her by.  I imagine she never dreamt that her youngest grandson’s wife would be wearing it one day… xoxo

I Love {Mary Pratt}

Image
I’m back today with another of my favorite local artists – Mary Pratt of Pink Chair Studio .  Mary is mother to my dear friend Anna, grandma to two of the most darling little girls you could ever hope to know AND a stunning artist.  I’ve had the great pleasure of getting to know her over the last few years and always look forward to seeing her at Anna’s parties, gatherings and events.  This is the piece that started an instant and all-encompassing love affair with Mary… …can you even believe the gorgeousness?  I literally swooned right there in Anna’s kitchen.  This portrait of a family friend’s daughter is equally as marvelous.  I’ve seen this child in person and I can honestly say that this perfectly captures her!  I sure would love to have one of the boys (I’m putting that out there on the off chance Honey is reading.) It should come as no surprise that I’m drawn to her coastal pieces.  Here are a few of my favorites… Soooo…after admiring Mary’...

I Love {House Portraits}

Image
Since the boys both celebrate birthdays within a month of Christmas, each year on their birthday we give them one, nice item that we hope they will have forever.  This year’s gift is rather tardy, however I’ll be the first to admit that it’s not like they’ve been chomping at the bit to get their forever gift :-).  One day they will thank me.  (Cue the day dream where I become my Mother and say “You know I’m always right.  I knew you would love these down the road.”)   So, on to the good stuff… to mark their fourth and seventh birthdays, the littles received framed illustrations of the two homes they’ve lived their sweet little lives in.  (See last year’s forever gift here and the rest of them here .) We had our current home (right) drawn back when we moved in for use on our moving announcements. It took me a good long while, but I finally found the same artist (he moved from ebay to etsy) and commissioned a pen and ink drawing of our old house . Paul Yo...

Cold Weather Favorites + Bird

Image
First things first, thank you to all who thought about and prayed for Bird yesterday.  He has a way to go on his recovery but is relaxing at home on his sofa with Sister, her Mister, Mother and Daddy-O tending to his every need.  As much as Cookie and I wanted to go visit, we think he needs a few more days to rest up for their usual playtime shenanigans.  Keep praying for clean biopsy results over the next couple of days. Now, while cold, windy weather is not my favorite time of the year (as I type my porch curtains are blowing like crazy and my garage door is creaking something awful), I DO enjoy snuggling up in front of a cozy fire with a hot beverage and my cherry pit pac .  These are a few of my favorites… I am admittedly far from a coffee connoisseur, but Keurig Pumpkin Spice with a generous glug of Bailey’s Creme Brulee creamer is a pretty decadent start to my fall mornings.  Thanks bestie C for introducing me to this last fall! On the other hand, I do d...

Happy Everything

Image
Given how I adore seasonal décor and looooove a good little celebration, I have been ogling the darling Happy Everything plates and attachments by Coton Colors for some time now.  So, you can imagine how thrilled (and shocked and completely flattered) I was when out-of-the-blue Coton Colors sent me their mini Happy Everything platter, stand and THREE attachments!!! I was literally squealing with delight as I cleared off my counters and set out the plate with the timely “Count Your Blessings” attachment. Part of the company’s giving campaign, “Attached to a Cause,” 100% of proceeds from the sale of this attachment go directly to food banks and hunger relief charities across our country.  They have an amazing goal of serving 200,000 meals this holiday season! I was beyond thrilled to also find the Elf attachment in the package, as this will be PERFECT to debut at our annual Scout’s Snowflake Breakfast and for the treats he brings each day in December! In fact, last year he l...

Ribba Love

Image
The latest project in the baby’s big boy room was putting up the gallery wall.  (And hanging the curtains, obvi!!)     I gathered up some of our most beloved pics of the baby, a few prints and a couple of other special items for the wall, including the Yes Ma’am, No Ma’am print from The Old Try (see my others here ), How to Tie a Bow Tie – A Gentleman’s Guide , the John Derian plate he received for his third birthday, a monogrammed bib from Mother and a copy of a nautical chart of the Savannah River and Wassaw Sound from River Services in Savannah (see it on my coffee table here .) And while we’re on the subject of the gallery wall, you really cannot beat an Ikea Ribba frame if you’ve got a pile of pics to hang on an ant-hill’s budget.  I mean, they come in a whole slew of sizes and you can mix and match everything from a standard frame to a collage to a matted picture to a shadow box.  Oh, and did I mention that they are totally affordable?!?!  What’s ...

Catherine Lovett’s Crab

Image
While at Tybee Social on our last trip down to Savannah , I came across a pair of paintings by Catherine Lovett that stopped me dead in my tracks… source …this photo hardly does them justice because what you can’t see is her signature use of gold leafing.  I mean, I was literally head over heels in the matter of two point five seconds.  When I found out she was local to Savannah, I became crazy captivated and spent the balance of my evening pouring over her website and driving Mother and Sister batty by rambling on about how I MUST GET ONE OF THESE PAINTINGS! source After talking with her a few times (she’s a doll and I’m convinced we’d be bffs if I still lived down South), we laid out plans for a mixed media coastal crab on 24”x24” wrapped canvas for the baby’s big boy room .  Mother picked it up (and adored her as well) and brought it with her last week and it’s PERFECTION!!!   Fingers crossed the baby doesn’t think it’s as “scary” as the nursery’s balloon cu...
