Only 10 days left on our Kickstarter project!

Hello everyone...... Just wanted to let you know that we are really hoping we will be able to get more pledges for our Kickstarter project!! There are only 10 days left and we've only had 7 people support our wonderful art project on Kickstarter! In case you haven't heard of Kickstarter, it is the largest funding platform for artists on the internet. It's a great idea because everyone receives something. We are offering lots of our wonderful art in our project, so hope you will all visit. Here is the link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/natureartists/artist-couple-create-amazing-house-from-nature Our project will be over December 13th, so it would be wonderful to have more backers to our project before our deadline is over. We are offering our movie "The Enchanted Treehouse", prints of our artwork, cards, a C...

Grey Willow + Giveaway!

Image
I want to thank everyone for your kind comments on my stool and mirror makeover. You are the best! If you haven't entered the giveaway you can enter here  for a $80.00 CSN  gift certificate. Entries are accepted until 8/24/10. I previously posted about turning my plain brown and white painted willow pieces into the new modern grey willow. If you missed the post about my Tuscan breakfast and willow transformation you can see it here  . This is a really easy and quick process and the results are fabulous. I have found that it does work better on willow than rattan or wicker, though I have been happy with all the results. For this project you need light grey craft paint and a brown glaze . I use Ralph Lauren Smoke glaze for everything and love it.  First, dry brush the grey paint randomly over the piece.  You do not want to entirely cover the willow or it will look like you just painted it. While the paint is still wet apply the glaze randomly. ...

Sorry about that gals but I love this so much I still had to include it.  If you are handy and have the right tools this project could be done without breaking the bank. We have all seen these vintage silver meat domes and if you are like me I really , really wanted one. They can be pretty expensive, a lot more than  I normally spend on accessories. In good condition the silver plated domes can cost up to $300 or more. I found a cheaper option. Finished project  Any metal will work to create the back. Inside of dome. The key here is finding a dome with some damage to one side. You can occasionally find these on ebay or in antique shops. I have seen large damaged domes for as cheap as $50.00.  Take the dome to a metal shop, or if you have the right equipment  you can do it yourself, and have the dome cut in half.  Leave the handle attached on the undamaged side of the dome. The metal s...
