Art Inspiration: Murad Osmann

Image
A few days ago Andy introduced me to Murad Osmann's instagram series called 'Follow Me To...'. I am always on the lookout for inspiring art, so I was immediately captivated! I read up on him and it turns out that he is a Russian artist, photographer, and film maker. He started the series 'Follow Me To...' by accident. While traveling with his girlfriend he wouldn't put his camera down. He took pictures of everything and it began to frustrate his girlfriend. While holding hands one day, Osmann started taking pictures, his girlfriend got upset and tried to pull away. Osmann caught the action in a photograph and decided to turn it into a series. I love it! It reminds me of a series that I would do and has got me thinking and inspired about all sorts of ideas. Hopefully you will get as much enjoyment out of Osmann's series as I do . You can find these photos and more on his instagram: muradosmann .   Here is a photograph of Osmann taking the picture.

International Artist Magazine Finalist - Inspiration!

Image
Well, I finally made it to press,  my painting "Inspiration" was chosen as a finalist in International Artist Magazines worldwide Floral and Still life competition, 2011.  This magazine was voted the top artist magazine in the world so I am absolutely thrilled and they have dedicated one page on my work in their Oct/Nov issue, which is available on line or in bookshops now. Inspiration is an oil on canvas 1.20 metres square and was bought by a New Zealand collector who lives on Takapuna beachfront in Auckland.  My painting truly could not have a better home and it complimented her interior colours perfectly. I have yet to tell her about the paintings achievement, I am sure she will be as proud as I am.  The accent colours in the cushions were perfect for Inspiration! This is a large painting but the towering wall makes it appear smaller in this photo than it really is. Inspiration Happily at home!   More of my work can be seen on my "paintings page" or on my we...

Thought for the Week

Image
I took this photograph of Rangitoto  Island while on my daily walk. I think it suited this weeks thought perfectly. Staying with the theme of inspirational quotes I came across  the book  below,  "Everything is going to be ok" through Amazon. This lovely book is a little bit different than the usual ones and uses art, design, craft and photography to encourage, inspire and lift your spirits. If you wish to learn a little more about the book or purchase a copy,  please click on it and it will take you directly to Amazon. Have a great weekend Lee x

Quote for the Week & International Artist Magazine Competition

Image
Happiness depends upon our’selves. Aristotle I like this quote from Aristotle and try to keep it in the forefront of my mind, probably why I have times when I throw myself intensely into something new.  I am a believer in trying to make life  interesting by experiencing new things which in return usually brings more happiness. Today I received an email from International Artist Magazine saying I had been selected for the next stage of their still life and flowers competition.  I entered the competition with my painting "Inspiration" . Inspiration - oil on canvas 1.20metres x 1.20 metres I am not only excited but honored and "happy" as this is a world wide competition from a popular Art magazine. If I only get a mention in their magazine I will be ecstatic!  I will keep you informed if I manage to progress further. At the moment I am still trying to fathom out how to turn the 500 x 500 pixel photo I originally sent them into an A4 or 300 dpi size which they have req...

I have been saving up all of these beautiful pictures......wanted to post them before this but we have been so busy working, I didn't have a chance to, so there are tons of inspiring photographs for you. I am so sorry for not posting the websites to all these pictures. I usually am in such a hurry to find other pretty pictures, I haven't been writing down the addresses of the sites I've found. I am so sorry for that. If anyone is really interested as to where I found these pictures, let me know, and I will try to find the addresses. I am so inspired by all these pictures, though. Aren't they beautiful?? I do know the first few pictures are from Emma Cassi's blog. Her creations are so wonderful. Hope you are having a wonderful spring day. I went for a walk today and my soul just was absorbed with the incredible beauty of the world......the trees and the flowers, the birds and their sweet singing. I am so thankful for nature. I couldn't live without it!!!! Debb...

I am so grateful for the beauty of others.......

I found these beautiful pictures on various sites.......I will have to get back to you with the addresses. Just have a minute right now to post these, but wanted to share them with you. Isn't it incredible how creative and inspired some people are??!! I don't know what I would do if I couldn't find such beautiful things. I feel so sad for the people in the world who don't have inspiration and beauty in their lives. There are so many people who are sad and alone and waunder about without anything to uplift their spirits. I am constantly praying for them to find peace in their souls and happiness again. Oh, if we could all be little children once again......how our hearts would soar and float upon the clouds of heaven!!! Love to you all...... Debbie
