$2250...Really?

Image
Imagine my surprise when browsing through one of the high end decor websites I came across these framed sea fans for sale. Source The price is $2250.00 for ONE! Are you kidding? I have been selling unframed sea fans on Etsy  for months now.  The above fan is framed in an illusion frame, again similar to the ones below I used in our own home.   Illusion frames are glass on both sides so the wall color shows through.  The sea fans also look wonderful using a mat and a frame of your choice. Source A couple of months ago I included light blue dyed sea fans to the other color options. Look familiar? The dyed sea fans sell on Etsy  for $32.00 each and the illusion frames are $29.00 at Michaels.  Of course, you can use the 40% off coupon at Michaels to save even more money.  These can easily be framed in less than 10 minutes and I give directions how to do this with each purchase. Some other colors available... Etsy Thank you to ever...

After Christmas Sales

Image
I hope everyone had a great holiday! .  I normally take the decorations down Christmas night or at the latest the next morning.   I know this is a little strange but once the celebration is over I am ready to have a clean and organized house.  Now that we have a smaller artificial tree I need to get some of the ornaments sorted and donated.  This is no easy job because we have hundreds and hundreds of ornaments collected over the years. My daughter-in-law has requested some of the Radko ornaments and I will be keeping a few of my favorites. I did a little after Christmas shopping,  though the store's selections seemed rather limited. I purchased a couple of sweaters while out shopping Monday and also ordered two things  on-line from Wisteria .  This cute tree skirt from Wisteria is perfect for my coastal design Christmas and at 75% off it was quite a deal.   These little hearts remind me of Frenc...

Early Christmas Gift & INTAGLIO WINNER

Image
My dad had a giant clam shell that has been sitting in his rock garden for 30+ years.  I have asked him numerous times if he would sell it to me,  and the answer was always NO.  He asked me what I wanted this year for Christmas and I jokingly said the clam shell,  but never really expecting he would let go of it. Dad could not understand why in the world I would even want the " old, dirty shell " and he said all the times I asked to buy it he thought I was kidding. He even said he would be so embarrassed if anyone knew he gave me an old shell for a Christmas gift. Last week while visiting my family for an early Christmas, Dad gave me the giant clam shell as well as the largest conch shell I have ever seen.  He had cleaned and bleached both shells and had them ready for me to take home. The only problem was they weighed between 60-70 pounds and couldn't be checked as luggage. Shipping them home would have been really expensive, so I had to leave my she...

Home Tour Part 1

Image
Sunday I was lucky enough to tour the beautiful home of  Bill and Les Stinson.  Their home was recently featured in R.Home magazine and I fell in love with it instantly.  You can read the article  Here .  Bill is the owner of W.L Stinson Custom Homes and Les is the owner of the design firm Hunt and Gather.  What a great team they made in custom building and designing this stunning home.  You find the home down a  mile long driveway and nestled in the woods with a backdrop of the James River. The first room you see upon entering the home is the dining room. Don't you just love the benches? French cabinet with chicken wire inserted in the doors.  Eat in kitchen. Love the mix of chairs and fabrics. Have you ever seen a more gorgeous pantry? Sitting room off kitchen Beamed ceiling in sitting room with my favorite wine barrel chandelier. Les and Bill have decorated their home with wonderful architectural antiques. When interviewed for R....

Easter Parade In Historic Richmond

Image
Every year Richmond host an Easter parade on historic Monument Ave. Monument Ave. is not only one of the oldest part of Richmond, but it also has some of the most beautiful homes.  Friends invited us to join them at their gorgeous home on Monument for this event. We had front row seats for all the festivities.  I was a little perplexed as to why they call it a Easter Parade since there is no parade!  The parade attracts thousands of people as you can see in the photo. The road is closed off and different venues and entertainers are there. There is a lot of people watching going on. This post would not be complete without the photo below of our gracious host.

Casual Dinner At The Beach

Image
Okay you got me!  I am really not at the beach...a girl can dream!  I had to show off my recent wins.  I won this fabulous sand pail from Low Tide High Style , and isn't it just the cutest thing?  I also won these adorable place card bubbles from Maureen at Inglenook Decor . These glass bubbles have a hole to hold flowers and a slot for the place card or pictures. I think this is the greatest idea!  I have never won anything in my life and now I get two wins in one week. Thank you both for these wonderful giveaways. Bubble place card holder with photo of hubby in Hilton Head, SC Sorry about the poor quality of this picture. but I had to show you a photo of me diving with the stingrays My table is set for a casual dinner with a beach theme. My new sand pail is holding a beautiful piece of white coral and the tall glass vase is filled with water and a sea fan. The water magnifies the sea fan and floating candles are also placed i...
