The Inn at Serenbe

For the first time in five years, Honey and I were able to get away just the two of us in celebration of our ten year anniversary!  Located just thirty miles South of Atlanta, Serenbe is an eclectic, vibrant and sustainable community in the Chattahoochee Hills.  There are a thousand acres of rolling pastures and forests and Serenbe is a national model for the future of balanced development in our country – focused on land preservation, agriculture, energy efficiency, green building, walkability, high density building, arts and culture, and community living for multiple generations.  It’s a beautiful and remarkable place.

We spent our time away relaxing and luxuriating at The Inn at Serenbe. As soon as you turn down the dirt and gravel road and see the sprawling farmland and cottages it’s like the air becomes fresher and the bustle of city life seems a million miles away.

May 2012 463 May 2012 464 May 2012 473 After pouring through all the pictures and descriptions of each and every room at the Inn, we decided to stay in the Guest House (room 20 to be exact) and we were SO glad we did!  It was just lovely…double doors opened onto our own rocking chair porch that overlooked a green space filled with twinkling lights and the Inns organic garden.  A few steps down and we were at the outdoor fireplace.  The other side of the Guest House was home to a lovely covered porch swing and a fantastic pool.  The furnishings were quaint and just what you’d expect for a country getaway.

May 2012 468We spent our days doing things we LOVE doing but don’t have the chance to do often.  You know…reading by the pool while sipping on hand crafted cocktails, napping on a porch swing, rocking in rocking chairs and enjoying nothing but country silence (birds, bees, and the distant bleats of a baby goat.)  It was perfect!

May 2012 657And when you need to stretch your legs a bit, there are hundreds of acres of land to explore.  Animals, pools, a treehouse for the kids, barns, a lab, a lake, trails, a croquet lawn, in ground trampolines, a hidden basketball area and more!

Included in our stay at the Inn was afternoon tea (think sweet tea, mint tea, lemonade,  farm fresh goat cheese and pepper jelly, pickled okra…mmmmmm) and a country breakfast in the morning (homemade blueberry buttermilk pancakes, eggs, bacon, fruit, juice, pastires).
May 2012 484 May 2012 555 We also enjoyed a mouthwatering dinner at The Farmhouse, the on-site eaterie that serves farm-fresh organic southern cuisine on an ever changing menu.  We dined on carrot-ginger soup, salad, stuffed pork loin and chocolate pecan pie.
